Elvar Örn Egilsson is a cinematographer based in Reykjavík, Iceland. With a background in painting and photography, his work leans toward emotionally driven, visually distinct storytelling. He has lensed award-winning documentaries, short films, and television series across Iceland and abroad, filming in places such as China, France, Svalbard, and Scotland. His credits include the documentary series Lambið og miðin and the Edda-winning children’s program Stundin Okkar (2020). His short film Geltu received the Edda Award for Best Children/Teen Film in 2025. That same year, he joined Mark Armstrong and Peter and Alexander Hillary on an expedition to the North Pole, documenting their journey in the footsteps of their fathers. Balancing naturalistic and stylized approaches, Elvar brings both sensitivity and ambition to every story he helps tell.
